Our Services

Knowledge Applications can provide the relevant capabilities for performing analyses of your computer network. We can identify the security needs for meeting your needs and for upgrading or designing your information system. We do this so that your system achieves the required capabilities demanded by the various mandates as stipulated by relevant US Government Agencies and the US Congress.

 

Knowledge Applications has a computer system network consisting of two IBM-compatible PCs (Dell and Compaq), an IBM-PC compatible Fujitsu Laptop, and a Macintosh, with a high-speed connection to the Internet through Cox Roadrunner Systems.

 

Our consultant capabilities include:

 

  • PhD in Information Technology (1992, George Mason University, Fairfax, VA)
  • Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP, Jan 2001 through Jan 2010)
  • Over 20 years experience serving Industry (e.g., Chrysler Corp.) and US Government Agencies (military, e.g., DLA and DCMA, and civilian, e.g., FAA)
  • Author of two technical books on Information System Security
  • Author of many Industry and US Government documents on information system security and information system assurance
  • Familiar with US Government Mandates, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications, Presidential Decision Directives (PDDs), and Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) relevant to Information System Security
  • Familiar with vulnerability scanners and other security software applications
  • Familiar with information system security hardware, e.g., Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, Intrusion Prevention Systems, Single Sign-On and Authentication packages, et al.
  • Familiar with various operating systems and key software applications
  • Familiar with Risk Analyses and methodologies for determining security requirements and security mechanisms for your information system
  • Able to provide alternative security system upgrades plus rationale and prices
  • Able to supervise installation of selected security software and hardware
  • Able to provide high-level diagrams of the installed security architecture
  • Able to provide innovative recommendations for improving a client's information system
  • Familiar with Web-based communications for minimizing costs of doing business
  • Familiar with Storage Area Networks, Network Attached Storage, and disaster recovery devices
  • Familiar with Internet security alternatives
  • Familiar with alternative database management systems (e.g., Microsoft FoxPro), Biometrics alternatives, and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) for improving throughput
  • Familiar with construction management issues.
